Interactive Whiteboards
May 12, 2026
- Images and diagrams for visual learners
- Audio and videos for auditory learners
- Touch interaction for kinesthetic learners
For example, a math lesson can include animated shapes, spoken instructions, and hands-on problem solving all in one activity.
Makes Abstract Concepts Easier to Understand
Young children often struggle with abstract ideas. Interactive visuals can help explain:
- Fractions
- Place value
- Scientific processes
- Geography and maps
- Reading comprehension concepts
Animations and manipulatives make concepts more concrete.
Encourages Collaboration
Many activities can be done in pairs or groups at the board. Students learn:
- Teamwork
- Communication
- Problem-solving together
Collaborative games and class brainstorming activities are especially effective in elementary grades.
Immediate Feedback
Teachers can quickly assess understanding through:
- Interactive quizzes
- Matching activities
- Real-time responses
Students see mistakes instantly and can correct them on the spot, which strengthens learning.
Helps with Classroom Management
Because lessons are often more dynamic and visually stimulating, students are typically:
- More attentive
- Less distracted
- More willing to participate
Transitions between activities can also be smoother when materials are already integrated into the board software.
Access to Multimedia Resources
Teachers can instantly pull in:
- Educational videos
- Virtual field trips
- Interactive simulations
- Online reading tools
This enriches lessons without needing separate devices for every activity.
Saves and Reuses Lessons
Many interactive whiteboard systems allow teachers to:
- Save annotated lessons
- Reuse materials later
- Share lessons with absent students
- Build digital lesson libraries
This can improve consistency and reduce prep time over time.
Supports Inclusive Education
Interactive whiteboards can help students with different needs through:
- Enlarged text and visuals
- Audio supports
- Touch-based interaction
- Color coding and highlighting
These features can especially support English learners and students with learning differences.
Smartboards!
August 15, 2024

We are thrilled to announce that, thanks to the incredible support and generosity of our community, we have successfully installed brand-new Smartboards throughout our 1st and 2nd-grade classrooms, as our Legacy Gift for the 2023-24 school year!
These state-of-the-art Smartboards are a direct result of the funds we raised together last year, and they will play a pivotal role in enhancing the learning experience for all of our students. These interactive tools will allow our teachers to create more dynamic and engaging lessons, bringing a new level of innovation to our classrooms.
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in our fundraising efforts. Whether you volunteered your time, donated, or supported our events, this achievement is a testament to what we can accomplish together as a community. We look forward to seeing the positive impact these Smartboards will have on our student’s education in the years to come. Thank you once again for your unwavering support!
Outdoor Picnic Tables
July 24, 2023
The 1st and 2nd grade playground has added these beautiful tables, chairs and benches for outdoor classroom learning, social opportunities and just a great place to get some shade! This space can accommodate 1 whole classroom at a time. Outdoor classrooms lend themselves to personal and planetary health, foster creative systems thinking, hands on problem solving and a space for reflective inquiry in nature. PTA is proud to support campus enhancements like these that are sure to bring smiles to student’s faces for years to come.

Handball Wall Murals
July 1, 2022

The 1st and 2nd grade playground is looking quite colorful these days thanks to our brand new murals. The first mural features a bevy of flowers and bees, along with the positive behavioral intervention and supports (PBIS) mantra that all of our Cabrillo cubs know well — the three Bs! Be respectful, be responsible, and be safe. The second mural depicts a bear cub emerging from the forest and reflects Wiseburn Unified School District’s goal to engage, empower, and elevate students through an academic career that recognizes each student as an individual and prepares them for a lifelong love of learning. PTA is proud to support campus enhancements like these that are sure to bring smiles to students’ faces for years to come.
Recess Refresh
February 22, 2022

Ask your student about the new balls, jump ropes, and hula hoops on their recess cart! PTA was happy to provide the Kinder and 1st/2nd grade recess carts with a little refresh as our students head into the second semester. Stay tuned for a few more playground enhancements this spring…
New Piano
April 18, 2021
PTA recently secured a baby grand piano for the school, which will enhance Cabrillo’s music program and provide the option for piano accompaniment during winter and spring sings and other performing arts events in the PAC for years to come. Our principal Mrs. Wilberg was delighted to play the inaugural tune.
Water Stations
April 15, 2021
Water fountains at Cabrillo are currently unavailable due to COVID restrictions, but Cabrillo PTA is working with WUSD to procure and install these water bottle filling stations. We’re excited to provide students access to cold, filtered water, especially as the weather warms up.
